That was in response to Alison's question.

I never put in a 1 in the first place so that's not what the
problem is.

Just take out the 1 and put in the rest of the phone number.

I tried sending a text message using the cell phone number
including the 1 at the beginnx, then the rest of the cingular
address. It wouldn't send because it said it was a malformed
address. What am I doing wrong?

FYI; some people have previously asked about this on this list.
The procedure outlined below will work on the BrailleNote. This
comes from the list for the American Council of the Blind (ACB)
here in the US:

You can send a text message via email to a cell phone by doing
the following.

Create a new email message and depending on the service that the
person you are wanting to text message has, use one of the
addresses below. Replacing the words, CellNumber with the actual
cell phone number of the recipient.

AT&T

[email protected]

Sprint

[email protected]

Verizon

[email protected]

T-Mobile

[email protected]

Virgin Mobile

[email protected]

Nextel

[email protected]

Alltel

[email protected]

Just leave the subject blank and limit the number of words you
put in the body of the email. If you have a signature that goes
with your new messages you will want to delete that text before
sending.

Now just send the message as you normally would.

When replying to a text message you receive back, be sure and
delete all of the original text in the message you are replying
to.
