Hi all,
I talked to hw last week, and they said they would email the list
about this, but I never saw the message. So, here's what I found out.

It has been reported that iOS5.1 broke qt support as far as terminal
mode is concerned. In fact, this is not the case at all; three
separate people on three different iOS device types (all hw employees)
have confirmed that qt units do still work with iOS. The hw rep to
whom I spoke suggested that the update may have caused the display to
stop pairing with the iOS device, requiring the user to manually pair
it again (in vo settings > braille). Once that is done, though, things
should work as usual.

So there you have it, straight from the manufacturer: nothing broke in
iOS5.1, just re-pair your qt and all should be well.

Interestingly, this rep also said that the backspace and enter keys
will never work properly under iOS. This is an Apple limitation, not
an hw bug. Apparently, since some displays have only six keys, Apple
feels that letting those with eight keys have extra functions
(backspace and enter) is not consistent with their goal of having the
same user experience across all devices. So, next time you wish the
enter key on the apex actually put in a new line or submitted an
entry, don't complain to hw, complain to Apple.
