Hi,
For transfering database records between mPower and Apex, for
file system reasons, I recommend using CSV files. Then import
these new CSV files to the Apex's databases. If these are custom
databases (ones not shipped with KeySoft by default), then the
best solution would be just copying the definition (not the
database itself) and the CSV file containing all your records
from the mPower, copying the definition to the "KeyBase" folder
on your Apex, telling KeyBase to create a cdb (database) from the
copied definitions file (which will format the database
correctly) and importing the records from the exported CSV file
for the custom database.
The "access is jenied" message could mean that the Apex thinks
that the cdb file is protected when it is not. If this happens,
unprotect BOTH
definition and database file to see if new records can be added
to the database (remember, as it was said in the manual and on my
podcast, that in KeyBase, databases composed of two files).
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Joseph

Subject: [Braillenote] Issues with the database manager
Hi,
I tried to copy my database files from the mPower onto Apex.
Apex says 2 files copied. It also has this error bleep and says
that something is protected, replace anyway. Nothing was
protected, but nonetheless, I was able to copy the databases and
all of my records were there. However, When I confirm my
additions to this database, it says access is denied. I tried to
copy a bunch of .csv files and import them into a new database.
This time, it adds fine, however does not move from 1 record to
the next via space with dots 5,6. The old one could. Also, when
I delete all the .csv files when I don셳 need them anymore, I
can셳 access the newly created database at all.
Please assist if possible.
Thanks.
Dmitriy
