Hi,
Wi-Fi can be used anywhere where there is a hotspot (either open
(no passwords) or protected (with a password). Assuming you have
either an mPower or Apex (but I'll assume you have an mPower
since you use a wireless card but applies to all BN models), the
procedure would be:
1. From anywhere in KeySoft, go to Options Menu then
Connectivity.
2. Enable wireless by going to Wireless and answering "yes."
You'll be in Wireless Ethernet Menu (at this point, you should
have connected the card to the mPower/PK/Classic).
3. Depending on the network visibility setting, you can either
scan for it (if you know that the network you wish to connect to
is visible) or create a new configuration (for hidden networks):
A. To scan for networks, from Wireless Ethernet Menu, select
"scan for networks." A list of visible networks will be shown.
Select the one you wish to connect to and move onto step 4
(configuring new
networks).
B. If the network is hidden, select "configure a new
connection." A list of settings for new connection configuration
will be displayed. Continue to step 4.
4. After selecting a newwork to connect to (either from scanning
it or creating a new one), answer the following prompts:
* Connection name: Give the connection a unique name.
* SSID (invisible networks only): If you know the name of the
wireless network, type it here.
* Infrastructure mode (invisible nej"withs): Answer "yes" if the
network uses a router; if not, answer "no" if it is a computer to
computer connection.
* Wireless security: Answer "yes" to either "WEP" or "WPA"
(mPower doesn't support WPA2), then type the security code.
Then exit, then answer "yes" to add the new network.
Alternatively, from within the configuration setup list, press
SPACE with DOTS 2-6 (CTRL with ENTER) to add the record.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Joseph

Subject: [Braillenote] WIFI & BRAILLENOTE
I need information on using WIFI with the BrailleNote.
I currently have a wireless card that I use to connect to the
internet. My ISP is with FIOS.
Is it possible for me to go online in other places besides my
home and
if so, can someone tell me how this is done.
I tried reading about this on the user's guide but I don't quite
know
if I truly understand what I learned.
Any help is most appreciated. Anita
