Hi Luke,
On the Apex, you need a special USB cable if connecting high power accessories like modern hard disks. This cable has two USB host plugs and a smaller plug at the other end (looks like a Y). This is because the power output of Apex's USB cable is slightly lower than that of mPower's because of addition of another USB port ed for power saving designs (the more USB ports there are, there would be less power drawn from a port, hence a high power accessory needs more power than a single USB port can provide, hence our solution). The other thing that was pointed out - about the file system in use - could be another cause, since Apex supports various FAT family (FAT16, FAT32, exFAT) but not NTFS. But given this scenario, I believe file systems wouldn't matter, since it is likely power related issue.
Cheers,
Joseph

Subject: [Braillenote] usb hard drives

Hi I am quite stuck because I have got a hard drive which was
made in 2005 with 40 gb of memory. When I plug it in to my
braillenote apex (keysoft 9,2) nothing happens, so i tried my
dad's hard drive, and nothing happened again. My dad's hard
drive has 320 gb of memory but still nothing. I reset my
braillenote and connected it to power but still my braillenote
displayed nothing when I plugged them in apart from main menu.
Please help! I was very hopeful.
Thanks very much, Luke.
Sent from my Braillenote.
