Hi list members. As the subject line indicates, I am trying to
set my APEX up as a Braille display to use in conjunction with my
PC. I have an APEX BT 18-35ll and am using JAWS 12 on my
desktop.
So far I have made sure bluetooth is switched on on my APEX. I
have had a sighted friend assist me with setting up a bluetooth
dongle on my desktop. We have installed the JAWS drivers from
the cd on my desktop and then selected the BrailleNote as my
default Braille display. We have selected comport 3 as the
serial port for bluetooth, then gone to my bluetooth places and
tried to pair the two. We have entered the authenticity code and
when I have checked via the APEX, the message said that the two
were paired but the connection was not active.
When I went to the terminal and pressed enter, the display showed
the "Braille terminal" message but then went blank. No matter
what we did on the PC, nothing showed up on the Braille display.
Upon looking further through the JAWS settings, we came across
two settings which we both wondered about: "set JAWS without
speech", and "remote client access". Do I need to alter one of
these to get the Braille display to work in terminal mode or do I
need to do something else? We both found the manual incredibly
complicated regarding this issue.
Thanks.
Michele
