You have a third alternative. You could connect a qwerty keyboard to your
BN and edit the document using the qwerty keyboard. This way, you could
open the Word file and edit it without needing to use computer braille.
That's one reason why I preferred using qwerty keyboards to bt ones.
But here is a rundown on computer braille. The small letters of the
alphabet are the same as the other braille grades. Add dot 7 to make
capital letters. The punctuation is: . dots 4,6; colon dots 1,5,6; comma,
dot 6. Question mark, dots 1,5,6; semicolon dots 5,6. Apostrophe, dot 3.
Double quotation marks dot 5. Single quotation marks, dot 4. Opening
parentheses dots 1,2,3,5,6. Closing parenthesis dots 2,3,4,5,6. Opening
bracket is dots 2,4,6,7; closing bracket is dots 1,2,4,5,6,7. Asterisk,
dots 1,6. The numbers are the same as Nemeth Code without the numerical
indicator. So, if you know the alphabet, add dot 7 to make capital letters.
If you know Nemeth, write the numbers without number signs. All you really
need to learn is the punctuation.

I'm trying to figure out the best way to read and edit Microsoft Word
documents with the Braille Note Apex BT32.
From what I'm reading in the manual, I can see two possibilities here:
1. Bring the document directly into the Braille Note via the "open file"
option under Word Processor, and use computer braille where needed to do
the
editing. This could be a problem for me, since I'm not extremely familiar
with computer Braille; or
2. Translate the file into a Braille file first, and then import it into
the Word Processor from there. If I'm interpreting things correctly, this
might not necessitate using computer Braille, but would involve two extra
translation steps--one when I import the document into the BN, and the
second when I export the document back to a Word document for use by the
sighted world.
Am I expressing things clearly here, or just confusing issues way more
than
they need to be?
