Hi Luke,

I'm one of the coordinators for the BrailleNote chats, which is one of the
jobs I help out with on the BrailleNote Users development team. Here's some
information about the chats, which I hope will answer your questions. If you
need further information, including information on how to work TeamTalk,
check out chat.braillenoteusers.info.

The BrailleNote Chat Series was started in 2007, before the BrailleNote
Users site was even around (it used to be associated with another Web site
called BrailleNote PB Works.) It's just a forum where BN users can get
together and talk about all things BN; problems they are having, feature
suggestions, technical issues, etc. We also talk about recent traffic on the
BrailleNote list and recent news and announcements from Humanware. Alex is
correct; anyone can join the chats, and anyone can bring up a topic for
discussion. It's pretty open-forum. Just a minor correction to what Alex
said; now, you can join in our chats if you don't have a Windows PC, or a
computer at all for that matter. Starting with the last chat installment we
had, the 10th BrailleNote chat, we had 2 session: the first on the
Conversation Station phone chat line, and the second on Talking Communities
for the PC, using Blind Cool Tech's chat room. We have our own TeamTalk
server, but we're still not sure whether we will use TC Web Conferencing or
TeamTalk in the future; that's still a discussion we're having in the
development team.

By the way, if you want to get an idea for what we have talked about in the
past and how it works, the archives of all BrailleNote chats dating back to
the first one in 2007 are in the media center on our site
(www.braillenoteusers.info/media) under the BrailleNote Chat Series heading.
I would encourage you to listen to at least part of both session of the 10th
chat, so you can get an idea of how the phone chat system and TC Web
Conferencing work. If you have any questions, please let me know!

Thanks,

Chris
