Hello all. I'm very pleased to let you guys know that I just got what I needed in the mail a few minutes ago. For a while now I've had both a wireless card and a regular compactflash card, both of which need the cf card slot on my mPower. This meant that I had to use either one card or the other at a time; USB was definitely not an option since usb is far slower on mPowers than I think is fair most of the time. Since I had never used my pc card slot before, I decided to try finding an adapter that would work with my cf cards.
I ordered one on Amazon, and it just came in. For anyone who would also like
to get one of these, put the following ASIN code into Amazon's search box.
B0014C4UW2
That is the identification code for the adapter I ordered. It's got a less than 5 star review on average, but so far it works great for me. I've tested it both on my bn here, and on my laptop running Windows 7, which has a pc card slot, but no cf card reader. I tested both my wifi and memory cards in this adapter, and they are recognized correctly. The wireless card is treated as a network card, and my 16 gig cf card becomes the pc card drive in the file manager. Speeds seem to be just as fast, if not slightly faster during browsing or file list queries. Also, best of all, I can put either card in the cf slot, and the other one in the adapter, and I can have them both in my mPower with no problems at all. They both work at the same time. Sorry for so much detail, but I thought I'd encourage anyone in my situation to go for this device. It's about $8, which didn't seem all that expensive to me. I should say, also, that this adapter claims to be both a type 1 and 2 cf reader. I don't have any thicker cf card devices to test this on, but I would assume it would work with those as claimed. Both my cards are the thinner type (1, I guess that is).
