Well, I might have solved my problem.
First, I did another re-set.
In addition, I erased the original four files, and created completely new
ones.
The earlier files were blank, in that there was no text in them.
I put text in the new files, and they seem fine now.
So, either the re-set, or the inclusion of text in the files must have been
the solution.
At least I'll have two possible fixes, should the problem happen again.

I think that could be a problem with the software but I'm not sure. I
