Technically, anything physical a computer uses is hardware. Flash disk is the name hw adopted when the bn first came out; back then, flash storage was new, and things like thumb drives were not around like they are today. I imagine that "hard disk" was used because, often, the device a user plugged in was a USB hard drive (this was back in 2005 when the mPower came out) and the name flash disk was already taken. Nowadays, of course, it makes little sense to keep calling it a flash disk, but it is already called that and has been for so long that it will likely continue to be called that for as long as keysoft exists. Just my thoughts and assumptions.
