Lucy,

Any of your cursor routing buttons could be stuck. By going into
keyboard learn mode you will probably isolate the one which is
depressed. It won't actually feel stuck. You will have to do this test
by pressing each of the 1 or 32 cursor routing keys.
Alternatively the scroll wheel may have become defective. You can test
this simply by disabling it temporarily (options> W) and observe whether
the problem ceases.
Either way, it will need to be looked at by HW, particularly if the
former is the problem.

Kind regards,

Subject: [Braillenote] Stuck cursor and general BrailleNote maintenance

Hello all,

I have several questions about a problem I've been having with
my Apex BT running KS 9.2. The problem seems to be that
something inside the unit is stuck, so that my cursor jumps
automatically to certain cells, which makes writing extremely
difficult. First and most importantly, is there any way I can
fix this without sending the unit in? Second, is there a way I
can turn the cursor off so I can write more efficiently while
trying to solve this problem? Also, when I spoke with HumanWare
just now, I was told not only that I would have to send the unit
back to them, but also that I would have to test every button on
the unit so that I could tell them exactly what was stuck. I
have done this and have a pretty good idea of what isn't working,
but obviously, there may be internal problems I'm completely
unaware of. I had assumed that it would be HW's responsibility
to identify these problems once they'd received the unit. Is
there anything I can do to ensure that they do this, or is there
anything else I should look for before sending it? Finally,
assuming I do end up sending it in, is there anything else I
should have them take care of just in terms of general
maintenance?

Thanks to anyone who is able to answer any of these questions.
I'm quite frustrated, since I upgraded to the Apex less than a
year ago and had hoped that I wouldn't need to send it in so
soon, so I look forward to your suggestions.

Best,

Lucy
