NVDA is a windows screen reader like Jaws or Window-Eyes. The difference is 
that it is free and open-source. I will warn you that you have to give the 
default speech a chance; it took me about four weeks, but now it's my favorite 
speech synth and I have it maxed out at 100% speed. Take a look at 
http://www.nvda-project.org for more information and to download it. If nothing 
else, it's a great backup screen reader if your primary one gives out. You can 
also install it on a thumb drive and use it on any computer you want.
