By any chance is your thumb drive formatted with the NTFS file system? You can check this on a PC by highliting the drive in Windows Explorer, opening the context menu, and choosing Properties. The file system in use will be displayed on the general tab.

BrailleNotes don't support NTFS so you'll have to format it using a different file system. FAT32 should be a good bet. Let us know if you need specific information on how to do this. It'll have to be done on a computer.

Of course, it's possible that this particular thumb drive is incompatible with the BrailleNote Apex, but so far I haven't come across any such drives - though I know they're out there! If your drive supports any features such as unlocking it with a password, then that would be a probable cause.
