Hi,
To answer your first question, you have to use the pass through command which 
is space with dots 4-5-6-8 then do space with o.
To answer the second question. On the Apex you need to have the options in both 
keyboard and braille settings set to 6 dot braille. On the iPad, you have to 
have eight-dot braille off (turn off and on with space and lower H.) You also 
need to have contractions off.
