Hi Deon. I do a lot of international travel and have taken my BrailleNote
with me.
The first thing I do when going to another country is to find out whether
there are any prepaid Internet services I can use. These are good because
they don't require you to commit to a monthly fee and you can easily top up
your account if you run out of hours. They are also a heck of a lot cheaper
than roaming services. When I go to the USA, I use Budget Dialup who are
excellent. To see the kind of thing a prepaid Internet service can provide,
you may like to check out their web site at http://www.budgetdialup.com
When no such option is available, I use Ipass, which is supported by my
ISP. Ipass is a system where participating Internet service providers allow
you to log on with the user ID and password from your home ISP. The Windows
Ipass client automates this process for you. You will need to contact Ipass
technical support for info on how to use this effectively with your BN, and
also get numbers in advance for the cities in which you will be using the
service.
