Hi Laura and list: Laura, time zones are used for a lot of things. The example that comes to mind at the moment though is date and time stamping on files.
Even though you're using your local time zone, all files are stamped using UTC or GMT time. This means for example, that if your friend in Thailand wanted to check the time when you last modified a file you had emailed to him, he would see the time that you last modified the file as his time, not yours! this is because his PC would also be reading the UTC/GMT time and recalculating it for his time zone. Obviously, if your time zone is not set correctly, the wrong number of hours would be either subtracted or added to the GMT time. Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance. I'm still curious as to why the bn asks for this query anyway. Thanks for your help, Laura > > > "The most important job is not to be governor, or first lady in my case." (George W.
