[Braillenote] stars in braille display

I have a BrailleNote that is displaying nothing but stars (dots 1,6). I've 
tried all the resets, deleted the ksysoft.ksd file, and reinstalled keysoft 5. 
We still get nothing but stars showing up. Any suggestions?
