[Braillenote] slash sign when writing

Hello Listers,
In my paper for my Guam history class I wanted to put the slash sign like in 
the words and-or.  I am concerned because I don't want the slash sign to show 
up like a st sign in the print copy.  Any ideas would be helpful.  If I need to 
write out and instead of using the contraction that's okay.  Just let me know 
how to make this work please.  I will probably be writing with more questions 
later.  Thank you for everyone's help.
