I can only speak to one of your questions. I often use my BrailleNote while standing: at the bus stop to read a book so I can still listen for my bus, at church to read the bulletin and sing in choir, or just to jot a quick note while I'm moving from place to place. Hope this answers at least that question. I have a BT 32 and love it. I, too, use other devices, but this o's my favorite!
