Many ISP's offer a CD with software and give you the impression that you
must use it.  This is generally not true.  Major ISP's such as Concentric
and Earthlink can be used with no proprietary software.  You just need to
know the addresses of the POP and SMTP servers.  The POP server holds your
Email and you download it from the POP server into your PC or PDA such as a
Braillenote.  When you send mail, the SMTP server takes it from your
computer and sends it out over the NET.  You can get this info from tech
support for your ISP.  Both Concentric and Earthlink have nationwide coverage.
