Chris, you raise an important point. As Maria has rightly advised, there
are ways of converting PDF files so they will read on your BrailleNote.
However, access by blind people to the increasing range of ebooks that are
out there is problematic at present no matter what platform you use.
Although Microsoft Reader and Adobe Reader offer built-in read outloud
features, many commercial ebooks are secured in such a way that these
features are disabled, making the books completely unusable under any
circumstances by a blind person. This is frustrating and we can only hope
that some kind of compromise is arrived at that protects the intellectual
property of the copyright holder while not interfering with a blind
person's right to read.
