Brenda,
The Sportrak is a receiver for the Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) that
interacts with the 24 satellites orbiting Earth to relay information to the
user about their location, nearby points of interest, and, if desired, a route
to a destination. It's made by Magellan, a company that makes other GPS
receivers as well; there are many companies that manufacture these products.
The BrailleNote GPS package can now be upgraded to use this receiver. It's one
of the more accurate ones because it can track up to 12 satellites at a time,
and since at least 3 are needed to acquire a good reading, it can pick the best
signals out of the ones it receives. If you want more information, xy can go
to Sendero Group's homepage,www.senderogroup.com, click on the "Product
Information" link. From there, click "Get more accuracy with this GPS and WAAS
receiver". This gives you info on the Sportrak, and there is also a link
called "Sportrak Specifications Sheet" if you want more technical elements.
Regards,
Maria
