Hi Lisa, If Peggy sends you an answer first, you can add this or ignore, but what the speech on request does is turn off speech unless you push one of the speech commands, such as space with g on the bt, I don't know the quarty commands, since I use a braille keyboard. I am also hearing impaired and totally blind by the way. I'm not totally deaf but use two hearing aids and do know some sign language. Hth
