Lisa:

Your term "MIDI cable" is absolutely correct. The term "MIDI" (musical
Instrument Digital Interface) is a electronic standard for musical
instruments to share information and to control one another. In recent
years, this control has been extended to computers to allow everything from
this same control to printed music production to studio recording. As far
as I know, MIDI is NOT an option for us yet on our PDI products. Aside
from the software constraints, there is simply no way to connect MIDI to the
VN/BN. A MIDI cable, if you haven't already seen one, is a 5 pin round
connector that looks kind of like one of the old style computer keyboard
connectors. In some cases, there are converters to hook up with the
paralleled or serial or to a standard computers sound video and game port. I
use MIDI all the time in my larger system for music production, but don't
think the BN/VN have the necessary hardware or software required to make
this connection. Though I admit, this would be a dream come true. I mean
imagine the possibilities of being able to take a small portable keyboard
and connecting it up to your Braillenote to take notes in a music class or
to share scores with a friend.
