Have you tried the various types of resets? I use speech on request, but I've had situations where my beeps and error tones disappeared, and a reset cured the problem. Good luck.

Hi All,
My BrailleNote has just returned from the factory, where it had been for
a battery change. However, the gauge was inaccurate, they told me, and, to
prevent them from keeping it another day, I recalibrated it myself. When it
was about down to 15 percent, I noticed that the speech wasn't working. I
tried turning it on and off, but to no avail. I had had headphones in to
stifle the "I'm talking until my battery goes flat!" noise. Either with the
headphones on and off, no speech. When I tried to increase or decrease the
volume, nothing happened, with display or speech. I didn't want to turn the
BrailleNote off, and lest ruin the recalibration. So I waited until the
BrailleNote flattened its battery, then plugged it in and began trying to
fix the speech. I turned the braille off, hoping for the speech to come on,
but to no avail. If any of you have any ideas, please let me know. This does
not look at all like a good situation. Thank you very much.

Yours,
Caitlin
