I'd like to add one more note to Jonathan's message below. I also have a Nokia
phone, a 6800. YOu activate it as Jonathan describes, but also, on the
6800 anyway, the ir port will automatically be deactivated after two minutes or
so if a connection is not established. So, you want to activate the ir port of
the phone just before you are ready to connect using that ir port.

This is done in order to conserve battery power on the cell phone.

If it does time out on you, just press the key combination to activate it again
and you have another 2 minutes to try and connect. Once you're finished with
the connection and disconnect the braillenote from the net, the phone ir port
will deactivate automatically so you don't have to worry about that.

Hi Audley. With every cell phone I've personally used, it is necessary to
execute a command on the phone itself to activate the infra-red port. I
always buy phones that have a menu system that gives each menu item a
unique number. So for example on my current phone, a Nokia 6610, all I do
is press the menu key followed by 121 and the infra-red port is activated.
