Hi Everyone,
I don't actually have a problem with my BN, but I was just curious about
something my TBVI told me today about someone's BrailleNote BT keyboard. We
were discussing the BrailleNote at length, so I asked her if she wanted to
touch mine to see what it felt like, and when she did, she told me that my
keyboard was different. I thought she meant different by it being a BT instead
of a QT, but apparently someone she knew had a BT whose spacebar was thinner.
Also, and this is what I'm really curious about, it was divided into three
parts, and each moved the display in a different direction, or moved through
something in a different direction. She said that she pressed the middle part
to advance the display forward one window. At first, I thought it might have
been another notetaker, but my TBVI said it had the same layout and leather
case as I had, and the person had referred to it as a BrailleNote. Then I
thought it might have been a Braille Companion because I knew that it was an
earlier version of the BrailleNote using DOS. Also, when I went to a
conference 7 years ago, the person giving the demonstration told us that it had
two "space bars" or "thumb keys" (I can't remember exactly) to move through
menus. I don't think the Braille Companion had a Braille display, but maybe
I'm wrong. Anyway, on the topic of the BrailleNote BT keyboard, one of my
friends has had a BNBT for about two years now, and he never mentioned his
spacebar being divided into anything when I asked him about his unit before
purchasing, so I assume his keyboard was the same as mine. I recently found
out from this list that QT keyboards had changed, but I hadn't thought this was
the case for the BT. Does anyone know what this is about? Just curious.
Thanks.
Maria
