actually, you and everyone else complaining about this rather commonplace
kind of business practice should connect with the PDI and/or HumanWare
people and cut your own deal for whatever organization you think fit; it's
nothing more than business, and those who don't like it have as much power
to alter things in their favor as does the NFB or any other organization.
so quit complaining and let actions speak loudest; rather than boycott the
best product to come along in decades, arrange for your own discount or
related benefits - using the equipment is benefit enough for me, however.

Hello Andy,
I too received special discounts for being in a Union.  The Federation and
the ACB are not unions, but social action organizations.  This practice will
simply encourage people to lie for the 5 per cent discount.  Also, Any, will
Pulse Date share information about us with the nFB.  What a big mistake they
have made because the Braille Note is such a wonderful product.
