Hi Sandy,
I was a tester for the gps and I would suggest you stick with the braille note software. First of all the braille output is a must. when on a bus, train or on a main road you cannot hear what is happening with speech. I understand the trecker only has speech and battery life is only six hours. also with the trecker you have to keep changing the flash card with the maps on. also there are three parts to the trecker and if you are a total it is difficult to use the small computer with the trecker.
now to the braille note.
the big pluss is that you can go on your route and put down markers at points you feel you need to mark for example if you get to a bus stop you can put a point of interest down for it so when next time you go on that route you can track the bus stop. if you walk about the braille note is very good for telling you which street you are on and also what the next road is. the real draw back to the software as I found out when testing is the actual data files that are used for creating a route e.g. if I search for say Scunthorp it cannot find it. if I am in Louth it says I am in east lindsey. if I search for Retford you have to put in a district name which is bassetlaw. I know pdi have purchased these data files from another source but they are really really out of date but I am sure pdi will get it right. you only have to look at progress made in the last two years with the braille note and I am sure you will agree with me. I think we are so lucky to have such a brilliant product and persons on the list like Dean and jonathan who reply to our problems. so hope this helps you make your choice. remember all this stuff is a baby and in the future things will improve.
sorry for the long post but it's vital you make the right choice.
bye for now.
