To use the calculator with fractions, you have to convert the fractions to decimals. If you want to add 3/4 and 1/4 you would put in the following. (3/4)+(1/4) You could also do it in 2 steps: 3/4 enter +(1/4) enter. Not sure what is going on with your battery but is always good to run a batery down and give it a full charge.
