Hi. I used to be on this list as a power user. However, lately, I've become disenchanted with many "features", or bugs, depending on one's perspective. I'll confine my tantrum to the GPS virtual mode software which was claimed to be of some use by PDI.

We already know that route creation in virtual mode is unreliable at best, so I'll confine my observations to much simpler tasks that don't work.

I decided to set a virtual position to my old home address: 4357 Linchmere Drive, Clayton, Ohio 45415. Upon typing the city name, Clayton, the software informed me there was no such city. I scrolled thru the list of cities in Ohio, stopping at Clayton. Yes, it was in the list. Next, I typed in my street name, Linchmere. Again, I was informed there was no such street. I scrolled thru the list of streets in Clayton, stopping at Linchmere. Yes, it was in the list. Next, I entered my old address, 4357 which was accepted. I set a virtual position to this address.

Next, I thought I'd look around, just to see if there were any points of interest in my old neighborhood. None found, even when I expanded the search to 20 miles! Now, I confess that I lived in a boring neighborhood, but surely there was SOMETHING of interest within 20 miles, since that radius encompasses the whole city of Dayton! None found.

Next, I moved my virtual position to Janice Place, which is about three houses away from 4357 Linchmere. Janice was in the list of streets in Clayton, without the need to scroll thru them. Upon picking an address on Janice Place, about 100 feet from the original virtual position, I decided to look around again. Ah! my old neighborhood came to life! There were quite a few restaurants, gas stations, hotels, and even a recreation area.

PDI, you guys gotta come up with some answers here. How can we make any use at all of such an unreliable system? So when is the free upgrade coming? Or must I spread the word that I was simply ripped off? Sorry to be so harsh, but virtual mode is absolutely useless! Please, Jonathan, or Mike May, or somebody-- tell me what I'm doing wrong!
As always,
Doug Martin
