Hi, Kirstyn. Thanks for where to find the baud rate. It is already at 19200
which is what they told me to set it at. Modem is already hayze compatible
on com1. They also gave me an initialization string, but I have no idea
where that would go; perhaps in the same line with the phone number. I
don't know. The phone number they gave is pound 777. I assume that pressing
the number sign will work, but when I look on the braille display, I see
two number signs then the number. The speech says number sign 777.
Don't know if that is the same as a pound sign.
Log on name is qnc and password is qnc. I have then put my e-mail log on
and password in the next fields for e-mail log on and password.
However, when I try to dial, it just times out and says no carrier.
I wonder if the number sign is really what is needed there or if there is a
way to put in the initialization string and the pound 777.
Thanks.

Paul,
I have not used this but based on what you wrote, you need to change
the modem setting for the record you use in Keymail. Go into Keymail,
press s for the Setup List, then d for Directory of Services. Press l to
look up the record you use. After selecting it, space to the "Modem to
use?" prompt.
Press CONTROL with k to edit the setting, and press CONTROL with
SPACE repeatedly until you get to "Hayes Compatible on COM1:". Press
CONTROL with ENTER to save the changes.
As for the serial port baud rate, I believe it is set in the ASCII
Translation Options because this controls the settings used when
transferring files between the BrailleNote and another device using the
serial port. Go into the File Manager, press t for the Translation Menu,
and a for the ASCII Translation Options. Space to the baud rate setting,
and press CONTROL with SPACE repeatedly until you get to your
selection. Press ENTER, then ESCAPE to exit, and y to confirm changes.
Hope this helps,
Kirstyn
