Hi Sandy.
With every software product, one person's amazing new feature is another's
irrelevance. For example, although the feature set of KeySoft 5 was set
long before I came to work for Pulse Data, I can honestly say I have come
to depend on the synchronisation between my BrailleNote and Outlook for
contact info, regularly listen to MP3 books on my BrailleNote, I use the
stopwatch to time my daughter when she is required to know her times tables
and come up with the answers at random under a minute, and of course as a
Braille addict I love the Duxbury support. The features we put in a release
are arrived at based on a combination of user demand, the time we estimate
a feature will take to implement, and the capabilities of the current
platform.
We've had overwhelming feedback about KeySoft 5, but obviously that doesn't
mean we've satisfied everyone. I think doing that would be an
impossibility.
The SMA programme is designed essentially to give our customers a discount
on future releases, by allowing them to prepay for the next two releases
for the price of one. It was our hope that we could deliver two releases
this year, however we will now not make that deadline. Success of other
products in other non-English speaking markets as well as various other
projects has meant that our Development team has had a busy year.
That said, we will be delivering a release, probably in the first quarter
of next year, that will be available to all version 5 customers. This
release will not count against your SMA, in other words, we're giving this
one to all version 5 customers and SMA holders will still have one SMA
count remaining. There are a number of new features, including most
significantly, a completely rewritten Planner. You may recall that some
weeks ago, I came to the list asking for input on the way people use the
Planner and what they would like to see. We're going to deliver as much of
that functionality as we can. The new Planner will be based on database
technology, support recurring appointments, allow you to block time,
schedule all day events, and it will all synchronise with Microsoft
Outlook. There will be other minor enhancements and bug fixes.
All the best.
