Bob,

How is the mall announced when it is located? A lot of times the malls are not announced by name, but rather by the stores that make it up. So, for example, instead of hearing "Northside Mall", you will hear, "Subway, Starbucks, and other stores that are in the mall". Is that what your friend is experiencing?

Don's idea of typing in the address is a good way to find the POI. When it is in virtual mode, you can look around that area. At this point you can also name the address as the mall name so that you can find it easily the next time.

Bob, I really don't have an answer for you on that one. I wonder if your friend is able to locate his address with the gps so he can set his virtual position to it. If not, maybe he could try setting his virtual position to his actual gps position when he's at his house and then see if he can find it in the .poi file.

Maybe someone else will have a better idea, but this could be a start.

Hi Don and listers,
A friend of mine just got his Gps. At home while tracking a route, he
cannot locate a favorite mall in his points of interest which is about 6
miles from home. When he drives by the mall and uses the looking around
keys, he locates the mall. Is there a reason for this? i shall pass your
comments along to him. Thank you.
