You can schedule an all day event. If you start writing in the appropriate
date, an all-day event is already created. Better yet, if it is a
birthday, you can modify that event and make it recur
yearly. Ulternatively, do a space with dots 26 to schedule an appointment
and at the appointment time hit l for all day. The default option is free,
so it won't show up as your appointment list, but you can change that if
you want to be warned about scheduling other things on that day.

Hi Ann
I would put it under notes. This new method better not have taken notes
away!

Subject: [Braillenote] new update, fantastic!
Hi all,
I just installed the new version of Keysoft! It's really great! My
only question is this. I love the planner, but what do you do for
things that occur every year, but you don't want them as
appointments. For example, what about somebody's birthday. It's not
an appointment so you don't want to schedule a time for it, how do you
get around this matter? I mean, I hate to ask this, the planner is so
great, but is there a way to do this?
