Hi Richard. Let me take a crack at your good questions. Firstly, you said: First of all, how fast are folks connecting when using a dial up connection? >56,000 or 300 baud? That's a tough one to answer as the bn doesn't tell you >when you log on. However, since I am old enough to remember how slow 300 baud >is, I can assure you that it's not 300 baud. I have had no problem with log >on speeds, and suspect that it's almost always 56k. Your second query was: >Secondly what is the story with the flash card mini drive situation? I don't >want to remove a card whenever I turn the thing on. I am looking for maximum >storage.I can assure you that this is not a major problem at all. If you do >have to remove a card, which has not been assured yet--it's a matter of >popping the card slightly out of the slot and leaving it in the slot, just not >pushed in all the way. Takes about thirty nano seconds or something like >that. When I don't need to use it, I usually unplug the micro disk anyway >because it tends to run the battery down a little faster.
Finally, you asked: Is the 3 and 1/2 drive external or does it plug into a slot? Yes and yes. The 3-1/2 disk is an external drive that connects via the slot on the right hand side of the BN. The thing to remember about reading this list is that most of us here are discussing the intricacies of working the notetaker. We may complain loudly and vociferously, but, notice which notetaker we choose to use.
