Hi Terri, No, a flash card reader is just what it sounds like, a flash card reader and recorder, that is, you can write to the flash card just as you can to a disk. The one we have has slots for several different cards and came with software that installed each slot as a separate drive. So for example, on your pc, your floppy disk might be a and your hard drive might be c and soforth. Your cd drive would be d unless, I guess you had something else there, but assuming a regular set for your pc, if your cd drive is d, then the card reader that I have would install as e f and soforth.
