Okay. bnipconfig programs the bn and does not effect the pc at all. It only programs the bn for finding the correct address where activesync can be found and it doesn't effect anything else. Actually, you can also connect to the internet via your network while activesync is running.
Your bn is actually connecting to the pc over your network, however you have that set up. If you are connecting to activesync using the ethernet card you are going into a network card for your pc or into some sort of router for your network. If you are going directly into a network card on your pc, I don't think you can connect to the internet that way. But, you can use activesync. If you're going into your network through, say, a router, and let's say your pc is also on that same network through another port on that router, you can connect to activesync on your pc and also surf the net or read email at the same time. When you start connecting to a network and trying to do several different things at the same time, it can get a bit messy and you really have to experiment. If you're just going through your pc for activesync and using the ethernet though, this won't hurt your ability to connect to the net at all as the settings you program into your bn with bnipconfig are really only for use by activesync. I think I've sort of said the same thing twice here, but maybe at least one of them will make sense. The bottom line though is that using bnipconfig to program your bn for activesync via the ethernet card won't hurt anything else at all. Maybe we need to find just where all this is explained in the bn documentation. <grin> If you have complicated network configurations you may need to run bnipconfig for other purposes, but that's a lot more complex than I care to get and I've been lucky enough not to need to know all that. And, I cannot use the network once connected to activesync with ethernet right? In order to connect using ethernet I'll first need to disconnect the computer's ethernet card from the network, I'll have to unplug the network connection for the school then plug in the braille note right? Then when I'm done, unplug braillenote and plug in the school's network, I can go back to surfing the net on my pc?
