Steve, please try to do the following since I had this problem before where the spellchecker menu took time to open and spell-checking was slower than what I was used to, and these steps fixed it for my BNBT-32.
1. Create a text (KeyWord type) document. 2. When you are in the empty file already, enter the Block Commands Menu (SPACE with B or CTRL with B). 3. Press I to select the Insert File option. 4. Select the Flash Disk as the drive, and Dictionaries as the folder. 5. SPACE through the files and hit ENTER on User's Dictionary. 6. The contents of the User's Dictionary file will be inserted into the text document you've created. Exit this file to save the contents. 7. Return to the Main Menu (SPACE with dots 1-2-3-4-5-6 or Menu key) and press F to enter the File Manager. 8. Press E to select the Erase File option. Choose the Flash Disk, Dictionaries folder, and User's Dictionary file, then type Y to confirm deletion of this file. 9. Go into KeyWord (ENTER with BACKSPACE with W or FUNCTION with 4) and open the text document you've created in Step 1 and into which you have inserted the contents of the now-deleted User's Dictionary file. 10. Enter the Spell Checker Menu (SPACE with dots 1-6 (READ with CTRL with S), and you should notice that it opens instantly. The sluggishness is caused by the User's Dictionary file and apparently, its size. Press D to spell-check the whole document, and add only those that you really encounter often to minimize the file size of the User's Dictionary. The more entries you have there, the more sluggish the spell checker works. If you know that a word being questioned by the spell checker is not something that you will encounter all the time, just skip it (press SPACE with dot 5 or READ with L) or ignore it (type I), instead of adding it to the User's Dictionary. Note that I have spell checked files as large as 3 MB and though it takes longer for the spell checker to go through the whole document than it would on a file just a few KB in size, the opening of the Spell Checker Menu and the execution of whichever option is not affected by the size of the document being checked. The culprit is really the User's Dictionary file.
