Cell phone minutes can be cheap or expensive depending on your plan. Some carriers charge by the megabyte of download. The cables for my phone were about $40. If your phone has infrared then that is anohter option. Be aware of the fact that if you use infrared it is much harder to use it if you are moving...
Thus far I have not found another card that works other than the one that PDI recommends. You can get the nonruggedized card from socket communications for less than the ruggedized one. Which might be an option. The advantage to the network card is that you can use it to connect to almost any network. ______________________________ J. R. Better chances of getting my questions answered. Hello. I'm wanting to know if anyone uses a pcmcia ethernet card to connect to the internet. I know that pulsedata doesn't recommend one. I know they recommend the socket low powered ruggidized compactflash card. I'm looking to find something cheaper than that to connect to the internet other than dialup. I found the card at the socketcomcom site for $115. I also tried a D link pcmcia ethernet card and it didn't even recognize that the card was inserted. I know that the cel phone is another option. I don't know if sprint will charge me for minutes when using the phone for access to the net. I don't know yet how much that cord would be either. Any suggestions would be appreciated. ___ To leave the BrailleNote list, send a blank message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] To view the list archives or change your preferences, visit http://list.pulsedata.com/mailman/listinfo/braillenote ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This email is confidential and may be legally privileged.
