I don't suppose it would cause any more technical support issues than any other device that one can upgrade the irmware in. I just upgraded my firmware in my dvd recorder the other day. I would assume that if one takes precautions such as using the charger plugged in and not having some file open, one should be able to do this. It would be interesting to hear how this is done with braille note units. Is it done through the serial port? Is it done by copying a file to the system or flash disk and running that file? The only other way would be to open the unit and connect to something internal, but that seems pretty archaic.

There is no reason why the bn does not have this but for pdi not wanting to
make this available to its customers.

Most devices these days have flash rom which is upgradable by the user from
a pc. Too bad that the BrailleNote doesn't have this technology.
