Hi Brenda,
You can go to the Format Menu and then Page Settings to find out how long each
page is. To get to the Format Menu press SPACE with dots 2-3-4-6, then press P
for Page Settings, and move down the list as you would in any other menu or
list on the BN. The default for Braille pages is 25 lines, 40 columns per
line. The default for text pages is 66 lines, 85 columns per line. You can
also change the margins (which will affect the number of lines and columns on a
page) in the Layout and Page Settings lists. After entering the Format Menu,
press L to get to the Layout List, and you can move through it. The Layout
handles left and right margins, while Page Settings handles top and bottom; all
default settings are 0. If you want to double-check your settings before
printing the braille document or embossing the text document, you can go to
Ink-Print or Braille settings (Ink-Print Settings appears in the Braille
document while Braille Settings appears in the text document) in the Format
Menu by pressing either I or B respectively. From there, you press L for
Layout or P for Page Settings. To change a value, just input a new number in
the appropriate area and press ENTER. There are other parts in the Format menu
and its sub-menus, and all the parts are covered in detail in Chapter 7 of the
User Guide in sections 7.4 Formatting a Braille Document for Ink-Printing, 7.18
Formatting a Text Document, and 7.19 Initial Format Settings in a Document.
When you press SPACE with dots 1-5-6, this tells you where the cursor is. To
find out how long your document is, place your cursor after the very last
character in your document, and issue the command for the cursor position. In
the Braille 'n Speak, you would either be asked to create a file size when
creating a file, or a default size of one page would be made; the BN doesn't do
this, so you don't have to worry about having to expand a file after some time.
I'm not sure if I interpreted your email correctly, but I hope this helps.
Maria
