Hi Donna and everyone, Whenever a strange message comes up on my BN after I reset, I just hit reset another time, and everything seems to work out properly. Even if it says I've lost data, the data remains. However, I don't think there's any way to recover data if you've been using the BN as normal without resetting right after the message came up. When I sent my unit back for repair, they told me to backup everything, which I assume means that the data can't be recovered; also, I found no mention of it in the User Guide. I really don't know why this happens, but re-resetting with no keys held down seems to work. As far as re-installing KeySoft 5, you can go to pulsedata.propagation.net/SDW/User/Login.aspx and log in using the first five digits of your serial number and the password "frog1" without the quotes. Click the "Download" button, then the link on the next page called "Click here to download package". The file is called KeySoft 5_0 Build 24.exe and you install it using Application Program (there's info on this in your User Guide in the chapter on the Utilities Menu). If you had KeySoft 4.01, you should be registered, but if you're not, you can email [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the information on your BrailleNote purchase records, and they will register you. This is KeySoft 5 Build 24, so if you had the latest, build 25, you'll go to a slightly older version, but there are only very slight changes. If you need more information, you can go to the PDI website, www.pulsedata.com click on "About", then "Press Releases", and the "29 August, 2003 New KeySoft 5.0 Now Available" article. From there, you click on the "Release Notes" link at the bottom of the article. There's a general section at the top, and then there are two sections, one mostly about the website where you obtain the program and the other about different methods of installing. Hope this helps.
