Dear Brenda, The grade of braille and "unpacking the file" has nothing to do with the bug I have described. I have been using files from the NLS web site and files which I have created on my PC using the full fledged version of Duxbury. None of these files are compressed. The file appears as blank--nothing is there at all. But the file manager shows there is definitely something in the file.
I am using Keysoft 5 build 24. There must be a bug in Keysoft 5 build 24. Perhaps earlier builds work ok, but mine doesn't. I don't mind importing the files, but the bug should be fixed. I had to switch it to grade 2 braille before I unpacked the brf file. Each time I'm ready to read a book in brf I find it works better to switch it to grade 2 before I open the file and start to read. After I close it, I switch back to ascii for my email and online stuff. The brf books are working just fine now. Hope this helps you and Steve. > > Brenda Mueller > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > >From: "Terri Pannett" <[EMAIL PROTECTED] > >To: "Braillenote List" <[EMAIL PROTECTED] > >Date: Tue, 23 Dec 2003 07:24:37 -0800 > >Subject: Re: [Braillenote] can't read .brf files on my bn > > >Dear Stephen, > > >I think there must be a bug in Keysoft 5. > > >To get the BN to read a .brf file, go to the file manager translate menu and > >import the file into Keysoft.
