Seville,

What your student's BN is missing is not the Keylist file but the database
file. The Keylist definition file called Address List (with no extension
showing but it's really .klt) can be found in the Keylist folder of the Flash,
NOT the Keysoft Systems, Disk. If you wish to find it using Keyword, at the
file name prompt, press SPACE with X (READ with X) to have all file types
showing. If this file is missing, your student must copy it from the Windows
folder of the Keysoft Systems Disk. When using the Copy option of the File
Manager, press SPACE with X (READ with X) to have all, including hidden, files
showing.
However, from your description, like I said the missing file is the database
file. For older BN/VN units, this is called Keylist.cdb, which contains data
stored in the Address List, Directory of Services and E-mail Folders. For
newer units, I believe starting with those that were shipped when v4.0 was
released, the database files for these three were separated and so the Address
List database would be called Address List.cdb.
This file can only be viewed in the Directory option of the File Manager, when
all, including hidden, files are listed. It resides in the Keylist folder of
again, the Flash, NOT the Keysoft Systems, Disk. If your student has backups
of the Flash Disk contents, made using the Backup option in the Utilities Menu,
then he/she can use the Copy option of the File Manager to load it back to the
Keylist folder of the Flash Disk. Remember that .cdb files are hidden, so make
sure first that you are set to view hidden files as well. If there is no
backup copy, then all previously saved data are lost and he/she must start from
scratch.
To create an Address List.cdb file, press A from the Main Menu, then A again to
add a record. The BN will prompt that there is no existing associated
database, and will ask if the user wishes to create one. Type Y for yes and
then wait until the BN places him in the first field for the new record being
created. He can proceed from that point to add a record to the new and empty
database, or press SPACE with E (ESCAPE) to exit. That should fix the problem.

HTH,
Roselle
