I was also going to buy a infrared to USB connector for my pc to use activesync through infrared with the bn. But since the infrared port is no faster than a 115bps serial port there's no advantage. Also, don't you think it would be less expensive and less work for PDI to just put window eyes on the braillenote, update the processor, memory, flash disk, system disk, etc, give us pocket word, excel, and say-- the rest is yours...make window eyes set files, trade with other users, add the trekker gps software if you want to...have fun! Instead of painstakingly making every single application for keysoft so that if we want something it has to be built into keysoft, made to work just right with speech, etc. And also, another thing that could be built into window eyes for pocket pc is the same good context help we've seen in keysoft, well, almost, but with a windows interface of course. And if I'm not mistaken .hlp files take up less space then .exe or full text manual files anyway. Two things I don't like about the pacmate. 1. the keyboard is not quite up to speed yet on the bt model, and 2. as far as I know you can't tell how fast you're traveling in a car. Also, you can't print from pacmate. If we'd have window eyes on the braillenote and access to windows ce with pocket pc I think it would be an advantage to PDI because it would be less work for them to constantly make applications for us, and improvements to keysoft for us, while lowering the price of the braillenote, yet at the same time, what they'd lack in dropping the price they would probably make up for in sales of their PDA's. Also, The keynote speech for windows ce already works with keysoft, so, why not give the users a choice, to use window eyes with eloquence, keynote, or both? For those who want keysoft and the keynote speech software along with window eyes, they could pay a slightly higher price. For those happy with pocket pc and window eyes with eloquence, pocket word, excel, avont go, power point, and more, that's fine. I took a look at a review of the pacmate on the freedom scientific website and for the most part I like it. But there are a few things it has that braillenote does not and I think if PDI could combine the power of pacmate with the ease of a braillenote they'd have a great product! I've seen the manual for window eyes...it's not hard to get to, like in jaws. Yes, there is a jaws manual, but it's buried in subfolders. And the window eyes manual is easy to understand and quick to look things up in. Furthermore, if window eyes were used. And since set files are easy to make, you don't have to know programming like for jaws scripts, I bet there would be tons of set files on a braillenote website for people to download and use with window eyes with their off the shelf applications. Also, did jaws ever come out with scripts for solitaire? no. Window eyes has set files for the solitaire game in windows though. So, along with the braillenote with window eyes, you get a free game to play! My point is the braillenote could be a much better product than it already is.
