Roselle,
The setting for me is already "Yes" for:
"Avoid duplicate copies of messages?"

I received a message addressed directly to me and addressed to the list as
recently as December 11, 2003. Today is December 17, 2003.

Even though your suggested change was already in effect, I clicked on
submit. Do you think this will make it stick this time?

This feature, assuming that it works, will be a big help.

Thanks,
Jerry Weinger

Laura, Jerry and others who are receiving duplicates of list messages
because of their Reply-To header:

First, may I apologize to Laura. I had another memory lapse and had thought
that I mentioned this to you off-list, <grin>. Kid, why didn't you complain
about this earlier? Oh well... Do you guys see the link at the bottom of
every message from the list? It's for checking the list archives, so it
says, but also for configuring your membership settings.

  1) Go to http://list.pulsedata.com/mailman/listinfo/braillenote. Press
SPACE with dots 4-5-6 (READ with B) to move the cursor to the bottom of the
web page.
  2) Press SPACE with dots 1-3 (SHIFT with TAB) twice to get to a text input
field. Next to it are words that in effect say you must enter your
subscription e-mail address there so that you can unsubscribe or change
membership settings or get a password reminder. Type in your e-mail address
(the one subscribed to the list) in computer Braille.
  3) Press SPACE with dots 4-6 (TAB) to move to the "Unsubscribe or Edit
Options" button. Hit ENTER. Don't panic, you will not be unsubscribed.
  4) The next page loaded will ask you to log in. With the old BN list, you
can do that without a password. I couldn't do it here so I clicked on the
Remind Me button, that's located after the Log-In button. A password will
be sent to your e-mail address.
  5) Check your mail for that password reminder e-mail, repeat steps 1
through 3, and use that password to log in. On the page loaded where you
previously clicked on the Remind Me button, there is a text input field for
the password and a Log-In button as mentioned in step 4.
  6) If you have successfully logged in, you should be on the membership
settings configuration page. For BrailleNote users, use your Braille
display to go through the options because speech doesn't read everything and
you can get confused with what checkboxes are for. For VoiceNote users,
make sure to read what the checkbox is for before checking or unchecking it,
using the Reading commands.
  6) You can change your password on this page; you'll find the edit fields
for old and new passwords somewhere in the middle. There are other options
you might want to look at and configure. Note that some options cannot be
changed like the language (it's set to English) and the topics for messages
you wish to receive (no topics are defined).
  7) Towards the bottom of the page, the second to the last option says,
"Avoid duplicate copies of messages? When you are listed explicitly in the
To: or Cc: headers of a list message, you can opt to not receive another
copy from the mailing list. Select Yes to avoid receiving copies from the
mailing list; select No to receive copies." As instructed, select yes.
Continue moving through the remaining settings until you reach the "Submit
changes" button which you must activate by hitting ENTER.

HTH,
Roselle

>Hi Jerry

>Do you have a reply-to address set in your email program? If you do, then
that's why this is happening. For some reason this seems to happen with
this list. It happens to me since I have a reply-to address set. HTH,
Laura
