Hi Nancy,
You can access the User Guide from anywhere in KeySoft, which is the name of
the program that has all the applications for the BrailleNote on it. Press
SPACE with O for the Options Menu, then U. Once you've pressed U, there is no
need to press ENTER, as you will immediately be asked "Press t for Table of
Contents or i for Index". You do whichever you want. Note that if you return
to the User Guide, you should be prompted as to whether you wish to continue
reading the reference you left, so you either answer y for Yes or n for No. If
you answer y, you'll be taken back to the reference, but answering n will
return you to the Table of Contents or Index prompt. The shortcut for
accessing the User Guide is BACKSPACE with ENTER with H, which will bring you
straight to the Table of Contents or Index prompt without having to go through
the Options Menu. Another way is to select the Word Processor from the Main
Menu, and then from the KeyWord Menu that comes up, select the option to Open a
Document. When you're prompted for a "Folder Name", press BACKSPACE, so you
can select another drive. When you first use this feature, your default will
probably say "Folder Name? General". This folder is on a drive called the
Flash Disk, so when you press BACKSPACE from the "Folder Name" prompt, you
would be prompted "Drive? Flash Disk". Either hit SPACE until you get to the
KeySoft System Disk, or just press K for the KeySoft System Disk. Press ENTER
to select it. At the "Folder Name" prompt, either type the word "manual"
without the quotes, or hit SPACE until you get to this folder. When you press
ENTER to select it, you'll get the "File Name" prompt, you can hit SPACE to go
through the list of files, and you will see each chapter or appendix of the
User Guide as a separate section. If you're in one document, and you now want
to open another, you can just press SPACE with dots 1-2-5-6, and then repeat
the same procedure. For accessing the Planner, once you find it in the Main
Menu, press ENTER to select it. At the KeyPlan Menu, select "Open Planner".
You'll be prompted for a day. Press SPACE with H to get all your options. In
the BrailleNote, SPACE with H is Context Sensitive Help, which means it'll only
give you the options for your current situation. I'm sure you'll find it
really useful as you go along, so whenever you need help, use this command.
From any menu on the BrailleNote, pressing the first letter of the item will
select it, and when you're in a list, pressing the first letter of an item will
bring you to the first item in the list that starts with that letter. There is
quite a lot to the Planner, so I suggest you read Chapter 9 of your User Guide
to learn about all its aspects. HTH.
Maria
