Hi Paul, I may be a little behind on this topic. Hopefully, by the time you read this you will have already solved your active sync problems.
What Don says is true. In fact, I think you should go with the defaults all the way. If you've changed your port settings, it could be that a re-install of active sync might be in order. Anyway, that's my hay penny's worth.
